Capsule collection: Breton stripes

They’re  the perfect blend of Euro and preppy,  bold without being overwhelming, and probably the easiest-to-wear print there is. And while they do count in my book as year-round wearable, exactly right now is when I like them best.

It’s funny, whenever I’m in a store with my husband and he sees a blue and white striped anything, he says “This looks like you.” Half of my wardrobe consists of Breton Stripes. And the other half is pants.

  2. Suz says:

I have zero stripes in the closet. This is where preppy chic loses me entirely.

  3. Freda says:

    Love the Zara jacket.

  4. Lesley says:

I love the J.Crew beach tunic! Darlin, why can’t we pin onto Pinterest from your site yet? (Then again, I’d pin so many things on there I might as well just refer back to your site)

  5. AmyM says:

I’m now a proud stripe-wearer, all thanks to you.

  6. One can never go wrong with stripes.

  7. Kate says:

I’m in the middle of a major closet purge and most of what is left are Breton striped shirts and sweaters.

  8. liz says:

I have the sandles. They are sorta nautical.

  9. Breton stripes are a staple for me. Maybe too much.

It’s the one thing missing from my packing list for our trip next week and I don’t know if I have time to track the right one down…but I think I know where I would find it…

I love stripes so much that I have a Pinterest board devoted to them. I fully intend to be the “crazy stripe” grandma someday. Maybe I already am.

  12. Sarah says:

At least half of what I buy has some sort of stripe component. I have one friend whom I don’t take shopping with me anymore because when I pull a nautical stipe off the shelf, she won’t let me try it on. She says “you already own that.” For some that voice of reproach might be helpful. But for me, there can never be too many stripes.

The espadrilles are on their way to me!
