Monday links

abbeyroad

  • Classic albums re-imagined as book covers. (Time)
  • This highly entertaining 1970 video clip, about life aboard the Playboy jet —complete with disco dance parties, 8-track tapes, Barbie Benton (I’m almost certain it’s Barbie Benton) and lots more—will most probably improve the quality of your Monday morning. (Voices of East Anglia)
  • And if that didn’t do it for you, this hip hop video created entirely with business-themed stock footage might.
  • Worst college roommate ever. Warning: this is ick. UPDATE: Several readers have requested that I change the description of this post from ick to something closer to reprehensible so please, unless you are offended by absolutely nothing, or have not eaten lately, do not click through. Seriously. Sucks when you guys get mad at me. (The Frisky)
  • Only in New York, kids. (New York Times)

I really needed a bit more of a warning than this is ick – cruelty to animals with pictures would have saved me from seeing that one

I wish I could unsee what’s on that link.

  3. Cara Noble says:

the video of the Playboy plane was just amazing.

  4. Hastings says:

Not to be a broken record- but linking to the roommate story without a more specific warning was not ok. Although, regardless of the warning, why would you choose to link to that?

  5. KimFrance says:

Many apologies to all who were offended.

I just want to clarify that I wasn’t offended and have no issue with the posting other than I would have chosen not to look at it if I was aware of the content.

  6. Viajera says:

Thanks for the warning, Kim! Reading the link was enough.

I think it is good to be reminded that there are people out there who need help and who need to encounter “the system” in some way. If we put more resources into violence and abuse prevention, and mental health, starting from a young age, we could stamp a lot of this out. (Probably never all of it.) Most people aren’t born bad, imho. They get made that way.
