I don’t much believe in them, and therefore try to keep my goals simple and few. First off: If I could go to bed when normal people go to bed and wake up when normal people wake up, I’d be positively thrilled.

Also this. More and better. And probably I need to re-up the dating efforts. And the gym, always the gym. How about you guys? Are changes afoot?

I also am not big on resolutions, but I do use the new year as a time to evaluate and set goals. Some of mine are the same as yours, #1 being the sleep schedule! I have reversed my nights and days, and I’m having a terrible time getting back to a normal schedule. I can get there once or twice a week, and then I have a night where I can’t sleep and I’m back where I started.
I also want to go to the gym more. I have to fix #1 first, though, since my gym isn’t open at night. I should do the dating thing, too, but not sure about that. My only other goal is to make money. I’ve got a few goals for my blog, but I don’t want to write too much.

Omg! i dont believe in resolutions either. Agree with Donna that this is good time to evaluate. I’m hoping to ditch the wine as a coping mechanism (twins at dinner time with traveling husband in 1110 sq ft apt – stress). Heading off to a boot camp spa for a few days to get myself kick started. No caffeine, alcohol, meat or dairy plus moving for 9-10 hours a day in Malibu? Not sure if it’ll be heaven or hell but it’ll sure kick off the year on a different note:). Good luck with the sleeping. That’s rough stuff
:tritto: to Donna and Trish above. No resolutions but am setting goals (with incremental steps spelled out). And not too many that I set myself up to be unsuccessful. I’m still working on my goals for 2013 but so far: Laugh more to manage stress better. Be physically stronger so I can keep up with very active 9 year old twins (feeling Trish’s pain above) and be “Younger Next Year” (have you read this book? Cheesy writing at times but was a kick in the pants as I consider getting older.) Buy a ukulele and take some lessons. Figure out my professional life.
Kick my cancer. :p Practical and unsexy, but kinda vital to 2014. Best of luck on your resolutions!
Godspeed, lady.
Achariya,
Best, best wishes for your success.
Ditto.
Achariya, sending you the best healing vibes. Been down the cancer road myself (1 year 7.5 months cancer free––I’m very, very, very grateful/lucky).
Not too big on resolutions, but I do set realistic goals. Seek serenity is top of the list for 2013. Cardio in addition to my 3 x/week pilates. Maintain my healthy diet. Visit NY (and, hence, my daughter) more often.
2012 was full of upheaval (and downheaval) so I have a fair amount of resolutions for 2013. I make them every year, call ‘em whatever you want.
Started today by working out after three months (!!!) of slacking. Painful but necessary. One of many goals and plans.
Hope we all have a great year!
Achariya, blessings be on your journey. Don’t forget the joys all around us!
I found I got in better shape when I gave up the gym and just started working out in nature: hiking, walking, swimming, riding my bike. But I realize those in big cities may nto have that option. But just being outside everyday helps: physically, mentally and emotionally.
Totally agree; long walks with the dog have made a huge difference in my life.
Ditto again. I went to the gym for years, but I stayed the same until I started to do things I enjoyed, with other people. Few people can effectively kick their own behinds. I was not one of them.
I need to get back into my 4x a week workout routine, after a loooooong (10 weeks) bout of dizziness/vertigo/nausea due to an inner ear infection (I do not recommend ever getting one of these). I did manage to do it for 6 months in 2012! But I had to give up a lot to make it possible, it’s going to take a while to get back into that.
As for sleeping at night and staying awake during the day, dogs and school-age children are good for that. I was very good during the Christmas break and only stayed up late/slept in once or twice. How boring!
1. Form new band. Stop letting my girlfriends make me feel bad about being in a band at my age.
2. Stop obsessing about my cat dying. She has at least five more years, probably.
3. Stop drinking too much and ranting to my husband about how much better things were for women in the 90s. He has heard it all a million times by now.
4. Read more, but read fewer sexist websites that get me all riled up, causing #3 to occur.
Can I resolve to hang out with Liz? She sounds like a good influence!
Triple dittoo!!!
I still haven’t gotten around to my resolution list. Not a good sign. However, I just want to take a moment to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Thank you and Happy New Year!
1. Build up my confidence (spiritual practices)
2. Shrink gut (exercize & diet)
3. Kick ass in (grad) school (time management)
4. Make more money (charge more for services)
5. Love- make, give, receive more (honesty & vulnerability)
Should be doable…
Take my vitamins every day. I like to keep things simple and attainable!
