When we love what we can never truly have

As regular visitors to this space know, when it comes to Liberty prints, I’m like a starry-eyed tween with a Lisa Frank fixation. And although I  have in the past cursed the fact that my access to the goods is severely limited due to the ocean that separates us, I also know this is probably for the best. Were I to live in England, I’d have developed the kind of troubling, blinders-on obsession that certainly would have led by now to hoarding, self-isolation, and that all-consuming  holy grail mindset that plagues collectors of everything from Lladro figurines to baseball cards. Like for instance, the moment I learned  that Liberty  had released their second collection of little mini suitcases, I would have had to buy each and every one.

Likewise, I would be going even more battypants than I already am for this metallic wallet from their new collection of  leather goods. It’s  embossed with Liberty’s iconic Ianthe print, which is only one of my favorite Liberty prints of all time.

And the iPad case? Enough with the fantabulosity already!

And finally (for now): Yes, yes, a thousand times yes to the Union Jack oven mitt, please.

Otoh, I thought in England it was okay to be eccentric?

But, I would not want you to become a recluse, so, better you’re here!

Thank you! I thought I was the only one whose heart beat a little faster at the sight of a Liberty print. (I just HAVE TO HAVE that passport cover!)

Love liberty, esp Ianthe Print – I did all my college interviews in an Ianthe Liberty skirt, way back when. The leather goods are very sweet, but i learned the hard way the English wallets don’t fit American money. And it’s annoying to have to fold your dollars in half… You may want to check the size of the passport cover for issues…

A friend of mine leaves for London a week from Friday. I’ve already put in my order for 2 oven mitts – one for me, one for mom.

To be honest, I have never been a Liberty fan but I could easily lose my heart over those leather goods….

Love this! Liberty is my all-time favorite store on the planet. I still covet with all my being every thing I have from there. The sheets, for one are unparalleled! I have a makeup bag I have had forever from there too. Being in California, it’s rare to ever get there. I dream about going back.

    All of these are gorgeous!

I really have to have that Blue Hera print mini suitcase. Seriously. Maybe I’ll find a way to get to London just to get one. (There used to be a Liberty of London shop in Honolulu. I wonder if it’s still there because I’m planning to go to Hawaii next year.)

Oh you bad, bad girlofacertainage. I actually felt a little nauseous with yearning when I saw the Ianthe print leather goods, but then I saw the Ianthe print scarves online and I truly lost my shit. Curse you. Sigh.

  9. I was miserable when Apple UK would not deliver its Liberty leather Ianthe-embossed iPad folio across the pond. Much later on, I found one on eBay and am delighted to use it daily. To sound cliche, Liberty brightens my day.

You guys should learn to sew. Their fabrics are readily available. Not cheap, but some of the finest cotton around.
