Certain things are just so cool it’s hard to believe the guys in charge actually gave them the go-ahead. Like, for instance, the fact that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting the Golden Globes. Awards shows are awards shows, and it always pays to manage one’s expectations, but still! How can this not turn out pretty stupendous?

This may well turn out to be the best GG’s in the history of GG’s. AWESOME.
i’m sad that i just heard in real life that amy poehler is a mean girl. ruins it for me.
Noooooooo!!!! I refuse to believe it!!!
From who? Ive spoken to three people who said shes a decent person.
I am suspicious. I feel like I hear all the time that successful women are mean. I need proof. (SHe may be standoffish, but that seems normal for her job.)
I particularly like the idea that two women FRIENDS are doing this.
yes! fantastic news.
I don’t have an opinion about these two. I don’t happen to watch their shows and don’t know much about their work. But my cynical side asks, do the powers that be think that it takes two women to equal a man? Has a woman ever hosted a show herself? I can’t say b/c I don’t pay that much attention. Just wondering.
These two have a history of working together on SNL Weekend Update so the pairing is not arbitrary. They are a natural comedy duo. Yes, women have hosted solo…Whoopi, Ellen… this ain’t that.
I stand corrected. Good luck to them.
I usually only watch the red carpet part of these shows.
Also? This instantly makes the GGs superior to the Oscars this go-round.
I think this might make me watch an awards show. Usually I just watch the pre-show to see what everybody is wearing.
I’ve never heard a word about Amy Poehler being a “mean girl.” Never even a blind item. I’m thinking a fan who didn’t get an autograph is starting rumors.
i so agree that successful women are presented in the press as “bitches”, or “mean girls”. (martha stewert??) im sure amy is great, this is an isolated nyc person to person incident involving a friend of a friend. i know that sounds so “ill pass you a note at your locker at lunch”, but it did change my feeling about her. i will watch just to feel some sister power. finally! yay!
