- This history of TV networks that aren’t what they started out to be is fascinating. TLC—home to Honey BooBoo—was founded by NASA as an educational channel in 1972. Also: ABC Family started out as part of Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network, and there is a stipulation built into the original contract of sale that the network must continue running Robertson’s The 700 Club. Oh MAN – I am conflicted about the movie version of Just Kids, one of my favorite books that I read in the past year. I thought I saw somewhere that James Franco was playing Mapplethorpe in something – not this movie – but I don’t think I can buy him in that role. I don’t know who though, and kind of cringe at the thought of K Stew, but that could be because I have an irrational loathing of her.
And pleated pants? REALLY????? Ugh.
