  • I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this surprise appearance by the U.S. women’s gymnastics team on The Colbert Report is the  cutest thing ever. (Colbert Nation)
  • And as long as we’re talking superlatives, let’s go ahead and call this the best correction that any publication has ever run in the history of print. (Poynter)
  • Alanis Morissette—who was so damn great when she guested on a couple of seasons of Weeds—seems to have the kind of emotional distance from the entertainment industry machine  that allows her to says whatever the hell she wants on any variety of topics: so refreshing in a celebrity. This Q&A is reliably loopy: Of the fact that—on tour opening for Vanilla Ice before Jagged Little Pill hit—she was instructed not to look him in the eye, she says, “I ended up never being near him so I didn’t have to apply my restraint.” (The Guardian)
  • As anticipated, Pussy Riot was found guilty today on charges on “hooliganism inspired by religious hatred.”  The judge has yet to announce sentences, but is expected to do so imminently.  (NY Times)
  • It’s always delightful to hear about a new Christopher Guest project. (Flavorwire)

I love your blog, you should post ask Amy Poehler, I find her so cool/uplifting:

On another note, I am so saddened by the Pussy Riot sentence. Just makes me physically sick.

Well a guilty verdict seemed all but inevitable from the beginning–the good news is that Putin said some time back that the he hopes they get a light sentence, so we’ll see. And the whole thing’s been a disaster for him: the story was on the home page of the Times today! That feels like some kind of victory to me.
