Shoes I Want For Fall: Part 1 of a series whose length is impossible to predict

Improbably enough, I’m kind of liking the idea of pointy-toe pumps—not the extra-high, super-pointy kind (which give me flashbacks to  certain female counterparts to The Guys In Corporate—as satanic as they were chic—who I hope never, ever to encounter again), but the more bluntly curvy, retroish kind.

If I were still editing fashion captions, I probably would have allowed this Steve Madden  pair to be called “architectural.”

This bright orange pair from Mulberry doesn’t take itself too seriously, which I quite  respect in a shoe.  Also, one senses they’d be quite walkable. In addition to which: so delightfully new wave!

Low-heeled black pumps are almost inevitably  the dictionary definition of frump, but this Loeffler Randall pair couldn’t be cooler.

I am one of those people who believes that a good metallic shoe can totally work as a neutral. And this one has the added advantage of being quite cheap, too.

I think I’d probably get this one in its all-black iteration, but this version has a certain hold over me as well.

I like number 1 a lot, and I’m always surprised when I like Steve Maddens.

I love pointier toed shoes that also have the mirroring point cut out on the vamp.
LOVE those orange shoes. I’m a fan of lower-heeled shoes and think they can look cute–it’s all in the styling. I wanted this Vince Camuto pair in magenta but they are sold out in my size everywhere: http://www.amazon.com/Vince-Camuto-Womens-VC-Goldie-Pump/dp/B00861W73I

That last shoe is exactly the sort of thing I would fall in love with, purchase, and then never figure out how to wear because it doesn’t fit into my life at all. But I still want them.

Why did you have to show me that Loeffler Randall shoe?

    WHY?

I’ve always loved red shoes so I would totally buy those pumps. I haven’t really bought a lot of shoes in the past few years because they were all too high or too ugly and weren’t right for me. Because of that, I became a “bag whore” and filled my closets with enough totes and purses to last a lifetime. If lower heels are back, I can start shoe shopping again. Thanks for the photos.

why is it they all look like old lady shoes to me?

Me too. Pumps of any height look frumpy to me now. If they are not open-toed they look too “ladylike.” I don’t work that particular corner.

In the 80s I used to wear cute low heeled ones, but they never stayed on my feet if it got cold. I am not sure why 2″ is considered low, either. I think a shoe looks good or bad depending on the proportions and the design, not the height. Look how many hideous 5 and 6 inchers one sees now! Ghastly.

But, the orange ones were best. If I had to choose. The pink suede ones were adorable but I have sworn off suede for shoes, it is just too delicate. I don’t like things I have to worry about that much.

Love the Loeffler Randall pumps but prefer a sleeker cut. See Via Spiga by Edmundo Castillo- Angie 2″ pump or Harietta 3″ pump. $198

Oooh I got almost the same exact Mulberry orange pumps on sale from Zara TRF. I love them (even if it’s occasionally hard to pair with all my neutral stuff).

Loving the orange pair and the metallic. All are cute though. Nice to see wearable but styly shoes again. I’m under 5′- I look ridiculous in 4″+ heels.

I like the Steve Maddens, but feel like I shouldn’t because my daughter wears them.
