Oh, Gore. I saw him speak in Seattle once. He was incredible, and I’ll miss keeping my eyes peeled for him in Rome.
Speaking of _Girls_ making its return– I was also happy to see that _Enlightened_ is returning too. Am I only the person who watched it? I am grateful HBO is bringing it back for me…and the other 100 people nation-wide who watched.
Without knowing more about the Sigerson Morrison deal, it does seem like a pretty horrible deal they signed. But even a great deal is a bad idea if it’s with an unethical person, imho. Not taking sides, I don’t know these people. But going into business with the wrong people is deadly. Even if you just have personality conflicts.
But, on the positive side, those women have talent. In the long run, they’ll do just fine. They just need a new name and their fans will follow. Hope they didn’t sign a non-compete. Sounds like they didn’t.
It seems those girls made a foolish business decision due to a bit of greed and ego, like Mary Norton of MooRoo years ago. It is sad when designers lose the rights to their names but doesn’t anyone who reads fashion mags know the risks of using your name for your line?
Sigerson Morrisson was an amazing shoe line. This is an all too familiar story and unfortunately it plays out in public.
