In the world of television, there are cynical ploys to promote viewership, and then there are Dear-God-has-it-really-come-to-this?-level cynical ploys to promote viewership. The fact that Sarah Palin is hosting the Today Show, of course, provides a flawless object lesson in the latter category. Happily, the world seems properly mortified. Andrew Sullivan got rather hilariously worked up over at The Daily Beast, and one gets the distinct sense that Matt Lauer himself is less than electrified by the development. Can I simply say what a reduction to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You undoubtedly know how to bring a difficulty to mild and make it important.
